Fundraising Auction of Architectural Drawings

Online Auction
To bid on an item, you must first register. We will ask you for some personal information, including a valid email address and credit card details. Immediately after registration, a password will be emailed to you, which you will need in order to start bidding. Once you have received your password, return to the Auction website and enter your email and password in order to register your bid. That’s it.

Your credit card will be checked prior to the close of the bidding period; only bids from registered users whose credit card details we have been able to authenticate will be accepted. We will not debit any amount from your credit card until the Online Auction has closed, at 21:00 on Thursday 5 June 2003 (all times are GMT).

Live Auction
A small number of items (see below) has been selected to feature in a Live Auction from 19.00 to 21.00 on Thursday 5 June 2003, at a party to be held at the Architectural Association, 36 Bedford Square, London, UK. A limited number of tickets for the party are available to purchase from https://www.aaschool.info/secure/auction/register_tickets.asp at the price of £20 per ticket, or by contacting Micki Hawkes on +44 (0)20 7887 4103. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to buy a ticket online, you must first be registered.

Online bidding for items selected for the Live Auction will be halted at 17.00 on 5 June, with prices at that time determining the starting point for bidding in the Live Auction.

For those unable to attend the Live Auction at the Architectural Association, there will be a proxy bidding system available on Thursday 5 June. Here’s how this will work:

You give us the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a particular item. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders. During the Live Auction, a proxy bidder will bid anonymously on your behalf, at £50 increments, using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position. The proxy bidder will bid up to your maximum amount.

Here is an example. If you place a maximum bid of £2,000, and at the Live Auction the item reaches £1,150, your proxy bidder will bid £1,200 on your behalf. If someone else then offers £1,350, the anonymous bidder will bid £1,400 on your behalf. If no other live bids are received, the lot will be sold to you for £1,400. If another online user has placed a maximum proxy bid of £1,500, the lot will be sold to you for £1,550.

All proxy bids must be received by email at micki@aaschool.ac.uk by 17:00 on Thursday 5 June. Your proxy bid will only be accepted if you have registered on the Auction website, and if we have been able to authenticate your credit card details.
